What is Monkey Puzzle’s approach to early years education?2026-04-22T10:28:47+01:00

Monkey Puzzle follows a child-centred approach, underpinned by the EYFS framework, where children learn through play, exploration and meaningful experiences. We focus on creating safe, nurturing environments that encourage curiosity, confidence and independence, supporting every child’s individual development.

How does Government Funding work?2026-05-12T09:34:30+01:00

Every child is entitled to a Universal 15 hours of funding from the term after their 3rd birthday. Furthermore, eligible working parents of children aged 9 months to school age may be able to access up to 30 hours of funded childcare per week. 15 and 30 hours are term time only (38 weeks of the year). As you will be open all year round, you’re allowed to stretch those hours over 51 weeks. Funded hours are given to parents at zero cost, with non-funded hours being charged accordingly. There may also be a voluntary consumable fee that you can charge parents who opt-in.

With the help of our support team, you’ll build a funding model and, as the business owner, you’ll work with your Local Authority to submit monthly or termly claims, reflecting the children and hours that you’re giving across invoices.

Can we have access to training to always keep myself and the staff team current and relevant?2026-04-22T10:14:05+01:00

We have a full and comprehensive training schedule available which involves compulsory training such as First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid, Child Protection, Safer Recruitment, Designated Safeguarding Lead etc. for you to complete before you open your nursery. We also offer a vast selection of optional courses from our Quarterly Training Brochure that you and your team can book on as and when you like. We also offer apprenticeships so if you do not have a full and relevant childcare qualification, we can arrange it for you.

What does FTE (Full Time Equivalents) stand for?2026-05-12T09:34:41+01:00

The abbreviation FTE stands for ‘Full Time Equivalents’. This term is used in reference to occupancy within the nursery i.e., 1 FTE = 1 child attending 5 full days per week. An FTE can also be made up by 2 or more children attending a nursery setting i.e., 1 child attending 3 full days (0.6 FTE) and another child attending 2 full days (0.4 FTE).

Can I further or complete my childcare qualifications and training?2026-04-22T10:04:10+01:00

Monkey Puzzle strongly recommend that all Franchisees undertake full and relevant training, which can include training that would enable the Franchisee to be fully qualified in childcare. Training will be provided as part of your franchise package for the length of your journey with Monkey Puzzle for you and your staff team.
