Since opening in 2020, Monkey Puzzle Walton-on-Thames has become a much-loved nursery. Now, as they celebrate their five-year anniversary, owner Annoo Walia and her team are looking forward to the launch of a brand-new forest school in April, as well as planning for a special summer celebration to mark the milestone with families and staff.
The nursery has built a reputation for its home-away-from-home atmosphere, exceptional care and a strong community spirit for families in Walton and surrounding villages.
For nursery owner Annoo Walia, Monkey Puzzle Walton-on-Thames is much more than just a business. “Opening the nursery was a dream come true! After nearly two decades in early years education, I wanted to create a place where children feel at home – a warm, nurturing environment where families feel part of a community. Seeing that vision come to life has been incredibly rewarding.”
Moving to the UK 23 years ago with her young son, Aary – now Walton-upon-Thames Operations Director – Annoo retrained in childcare and went on to manage several Ofsted outstanding nurseries in the area.
“I’ve always believed that every child deserves the very best start in life. That’s what drives me – ensuring we provide the best care we can, a rich learning environment and a true home-away-from-home experience for the children.”
Located on Terrace Road, just a short drive from the M3 and M25, Monkey Puzzle Walton-on-Thames is easily accessible for local families, featuring a large car park, garden and a spacious nursery property providing plenty of space for children to learn and play.
Building on the success of Walton-on-Thames, Annoo opened her second nursey, Monkey Puzzle Cheam, in October 2023, bringing the same home-from-home ethos to families in Sutton, Ewell and Morden.
Reflecting on the past five years, Annoo shared, “Seeing Monkey Puzzle Walton-on-Thames grow into such a special place for families has been an amazing experience. We’ve built a real community here, and I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved.”
With the next chapter in sight, the nursery is set to launch its new Forest School in April, led by recently appointed Forest School manager, Sarah. This initiative will offer children hands-on outdoor learning, encouraging curiosity and a lifelong love of nature.
Beyond that, the team is focused on expanding STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths), introducing more clubs – including a running club – and continuing to invest in staff training and development to ensure the highest quality of care.
With a special summer celebration planned, Annoo is looking forward to marking the milestone in style: “The relationships we’ve built with all our children, families and staff mean everything. Watching the children grow is the most fulfilling part of what we do. Here’s to the next five years and beyond!”
